Activated Carbon Properties And Ultrafine Mill


Activated carbon is a special treatment of carbon, the organic raw materials (nut shell, coal, wood, etc.) in isolation from the air under the condition of heating, in order to reduce the non-carbon components (this process is called carbonization), and then react with gas, the surface is eroded, produce micro porous developed structure (this process is called activation).

Because the activation process is a microscopic process, that is, a large number of molecular carbide surface erosion is point erosion, resulting in the activated carbon surface has numerous small pores.

Most of the micropore diameter on the surface of activated carbon is between 2 ~ 50nm. Even a small amount of activated carbon has a huge surface area of 500~1500m2 per gram of activated carbon. Almost all the applications of activated carbon are based on this characteristic of activated carbon.

The Adsorption Mechanism Of Active Carbon

Activated carbon adsorption refers to the use of activated carbon on the solid surface of the adsorption of one or more substances in water, in order to achieve the purpose of purifying water. The adsorption capacity of activated carbon is related to the pore size and structure of activated carbon.

Application of Active Carbon

Activated carbon is mainly used as a solid adsorbent in chemical industry, medicine, environment and other aspects, used for adsorption of substances with higher boiling point and critical temperature and organic matter with larger molecular weight.

In the air purification, water treatment and other fields of application also shows a trend of increasing consumption.

In general, the smaller the particles, the faster the pore diffusion rate, the stronger the adsorption capacity of activated carbon.
